Profile
I am a medieval historian, my PhD (Kent, 2016) was on Canterbury’s monastic culture and bestiaries. Having taught at CCCU since 2012, I became a SRF in 2021, as PI for the Medieval Animals Heritage PAR project on medieval heritage engagement with SEND families, schools and volunteers. This successful project made regional medieval history more accessible and, by developing medieval green heritage, more sustainable, eco-friendly, enriching and relevant.
As Steering Committee member for the Gender and Medieval Studies Forum, I shall liaise with Dr Sweetinburgh for the GMS International Conference, Canterbury 2-7 July 2025.
Delighted to be affiliated with CKHH, I am now also at the Science Museum’s Research and Public History Department, researching on medieval Kent prophylactic and apotropaic material and I recently spoke at the International Conference on Amulets. I am General Series Editor for University of Wales Press ‘Medieval Animals’ book series with Dr V. Blud.
